12/13/2008 It's all about me...(For some unknown reason, some of my posts appear to be invisible. If you do the "highlight and scroll" thing, the entry will show up and live again.
Not all of them are invisible, but quite a few are.
My 101 entry is one of them.
Thank you for your time.)
I started thinking about how different people are. Unless you are a Texan, you may not get the difference.
For breakfast, we have tortilla chips and salsa. Extra cilantro is great.
You either love or hate cilantro. There's no in-between.
I love.....seriously, I really love Mexican food.
In the part of Texas that I live in, we run the a/c 90% of the time. Up until late January or early February.
After that? My heater/fireplace is howling full blast.
We have frequent ice storms. Every thing shuts down for that.
My little town?...we have about 3 sand trucks
We wave at total strangers.
At least half of the drivers on the road are driving pick-ups. And they usually have a big catahoula leopard dog in the bed. (Think big and spotted. Main colors are beige and black)
We can speak Spainish....we just choose not to.
We open doors and help people with their bags.
Our BB&Q is the best. Especially when the Dallas Cowboys play. Pick-up trucks are handy for that. Tailgating, you know.
Most folks have a Carhart jacket in case of cold weather.
Most folks have 4 wheel drive. It may not rain much around here, but when it does it's in torrential preportions.
Around here, it's either mud, ice, or mosquitoe season.
And don't be surprised if you find a tarantula, water moccasin or a copperhead on your porch, waiting to be invited in.
We give to the Salvation Army and we help people when they want something on the top shelf.
We take meals to families when times are hard.
All in all, Texas is the place to be. Don't be surprised if you come to visit and want to stay.
We'll take you.
We have hills and beaches; plus nice, friendly, and helpful folks.
In April, just when you start to think it's hot.....just you wait 'till August.
For now...I'm turning on the a/c and kicking back a cold one.
(not really, I don't like beer)

Dana 12/11/2008 Just being meI guess that I'm getting into this Texas "thing".
Don't get me wrong....it's not new to me...I was a cowgirl way before it was cool.
From the age of 5 until I was 18, I rode and worked horses every day. And in the town I grew up in, everthing was cowboyed. Going dancing, bootscooting, two-stepping every Friday and Saturday night was expected. And it was fun. (and at times scary).
Even before I met Hubby, I was out and about, flirting and dancing. I could get into any bar easily at the age of 15. When you're cute, they don't ask questions. In fact, I may have danced with Willie Nelson at some point.
But I digress.
It seems as if I will be cowboying (cowgirling?) up again.
The day before Thanksgiving, we went out and bought this new big, black extended F-150 Ford pickup. It's huge. The bottom of the side windows is the same height as my shoulders.
I'm 5'8".
Thank goodness for the suicide handles in the cab or else I would never be able to get inside.
After the purchase, the first thing to do was to put on a decal.
After church Hubby bought a window decal.
In nearly 36 years of marriage, I've never seen him put a decal or bumper sticker on anything.
It's a cutout about our church.
The Triple Cross Cowboy Church.
Yep, we will soon be officially cowpeople again soon. We are looking for some land on which we will park a few horses. The Princess and Handsome Jack are both horse crazy. The pickup is mainly for transporting the horses in the horse trailer.
We haven't had car payments in...like 10 years. I can live with it though, it came with Sirius radio. I love the Blue Collar Comedy station. I know people are looking at me wondering why I'm smiling.
Get-R-Done!
I wish all a Merry Christmas and all that....remember to keep Christ in it.
Until next time then....I hope to have more interesting stuff for you.

12/10/2008 Still(For some unknown reason, some of my posts appear to be invisible. If you do the "highlight and scroll" thing, the entry will show up and live again.

Just another short post to let y'all know that I'm serious about keeping the blog up. I'm a little disturbed about how everthing has changed me, but I'm still me. I didn't know how much grief could change things.
FINALLY~my knee replacement surgery is scheduled!! Next Wednesday I will be sporting a new knee. Pray for me, I hear it's painful. But at some point I will be walking pain-free!!
By the way...Merry CHRISTmas to all and to all a small holiday debt!

Dana 12/3/2008 MaybePerhaps I AM back.
I was going to delete my blog and decimate every entry, but as I read through them I realized that I had forgotten alot of memories that I want to preserve.
Reading back through them, my time spent with The Princess was magical. I need to preserve future memories somehow.
I still struggle with motivation and now I procrastinate more.
My little sister, who is 2 years out of a breast cancer diagnosis, recently scraped by another cancer scare. I thank God....she is my last remaining blood relative with the exception of my girls and grandchildren.
See? I still drift to the darker side of things.
On a lighter note, I'm a proud grandparent of another little (maybe not so little-she arrived weighing 9lbs., 8oz!) baby girl named Annah. The Princess is a great big sister!
That makes 4 grandkids total. I've gotta get a job.
I do want to thank all of you for the emails concerning my "lingering escape from reality" period. I had no idea that I wasn't superwoman. Grief knocked me for a loop and for a long time I missed out on everyday living.
Anyhoo...like Ahhnold says....I'll be back.
xoxo
